Hello,
I have a disabled child and he recieves a small amount of SSI on to the Express card. My terminally ill mother is now living with us and I'm her POA. She would like me to be on her bank account and pay bills, food, etc. I spoke with SSA to ask how this would affect my child's SSI. The rep stated to just be second on the joint account. Not Representative payee or anything. This is so confusing from what I have read. I have been told different things by different reps so now I'm second guessing what he said.

Instead of being a joint owner of her account just ask the bank to set you up as a signatory to the account. That way, its only her account but you have permission to sign on it.
