Were they supposed to consider stepdads...What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NY&Fl court ordered child support payments in deeming for ssi. My husband pays nearly $600 a month, should it have been subtracted from the earned income? We have a huge overpayment and my son has no benefits at all for 6 mos, and they say it will continue holding until paid in full. |

| Look through here : Understanding Supplemental Security Income (SSI)-- Overpayments Now I have been told that SSA can only take 10 % and I have also heard where there is a HUGH overpayment the entire monthly checks will be withheld until the overpayment has been paid . What if anything did anyone do per the notice and their rights ?

Answer & ThanksWe went into the office and spoke with the people there. We were told that child support doesn't matter. I made several phone calls and was told that child support doesn't matter, so we thought they were correct. Just recently, while seeking information for something else, I came across information that said that it should be counted. But I spoke to 2 offices...state and the 800# and was told "No" and "I don't know". I just wanted to be clear on whether it counts or not. I'd rather pay it off, but if the child support was counted then, there would be no overpayment. Thanks!!! ![]() |
