I live in Massachusetts. I got caught going 40 in a 35 zone at 1:30 in the morning. I'm under 18 so it's a junior operating license which means I can't drive past 12:30 in the morning and I also had a passenger in the car which I can't do. I got charged with a JOL Time Restriction Violation, JOL Passenger Restriction Violation, and a Speeding Violation, the time restriction being a criminal application. The officer told me that if I appeal then I should have a small hearing and most likely wait about 6 months and they will probably drop the charges. Is this true? If so, what should I complain about when I appeal? Do I have to appeal all charges and if so do I do it all via the criminal application or do I appeal 2 of the charges with Civil Infraction and 1 with Criminal Application? Please help.

Never rely on cops for legal information.
If you're facing criminal charges, you would be advised to at least consult with a lawyer.
