ca-how long can they impound my vehicle

What is the name of your state? Ca
My vehicle was just impounded for expired tags. the officer told me it would be impounded for 30 days.
is there a way to shorten this?

Yes.. Get current tags for your car.

Your car is going to be held for 30 days even if you buy new tabs. That is called an incentive so folks won't drive vehicles with expired tabs.

When I worked out there, when we impounded a car for expired tags, insurance etc.. We gave you thirty days to get your info up to date and current than we released your car.
