Camera ticket, right turn on Red

What is the name of your state? Oregon

I received a ticket for failure to obey a traffic control device.

A picture was taken of me in my car making a right turn on red. The crosswise traffic at the intersection was in left turn only mode, thereby insuring no one was coming across the intersection at me. Also no one was making a U-turn. The photo shows me at the light and then another photo thru the light. I may have stopped before the photo was taken or it may have been a California roll--maybe, but I checked--I didn't just blow thru a red light. The photo of me behind the wheel is clear, so clear that it shows I don't have my seat belt on.

The fine is $242 and I would like not to pay it. I am thinking about going to court, but I am nervous I may lose and owe more money just for going to court and they will see I was not wearing my seatbelt and ding me for that too. Any advice?

Pay the fine and keep the cali talk out of the reason you got a ticket.

PS. Wear your seatbelt. It is common practice just like putting on your shoes these day's.

In fact, you are so astonishingly correct in this matter, it will not surprise us one bit if you are offered a generous settlement, because, by golly, that’s just how it should be.

The law states that you must come to a complete stop before making a right-hand turn against a red signal. The fact that you don't even know what you did is very scary, and I'm glad I don't drive anywhere near where you do.

Am I missing something here??? To me, it would be very difficult to have a stop-action camera take a picture that would unequivocally prove that you rolled thru a "turn on red light" situation. It is more likely that this situation is governed by a "no turn on red" rule-- either by sign or implied.

Yes, you are missing something. Whether or not this applies to the OP's intersection, these cameras have become very advanced, and do have the ability to determine whether or not a vehicle has come to a complete stop.
