Question

Can a Community Correction Service increase a Traffic Ticket?

My friend was picked up for not paying a speeding ticket. He pleaded guilty, on top of the ticket cost was added a bench warrrant fee. He went to probate to make payments. No problem, he started paying and then turn a portion of it into community service - due to the fact he has no job. Once this was done, the balance came to an addition 54.00 for probate fees. Once it was paid - there was questions on his balance and they called him back. (Balance was paid on Nove. 20th give or take).

When he appear today 12/19 - he was told that an additional amount of $400 dollars was being added because of the car he drove. This was not in the court papers or presented by the judge.

Can they do this?

This is a private run company called "provience community correction" service found in Griffin, GA.
