Question

To whom it may concern,

I was wondering if you could help me out. A couple months ago, I was pulled over in Vermont by a police officer. First of all he told me I was going 44 in a 35. I was quite positive I was not going that fast, as I was in the middle of a pack of cars, and somehow he singled me out (driving a ford explorer with a college sticker on the back). At any rate, he then proceeded to write the ticket, NOW stating that I was doing 45 in a 35. I was skeptical of this inaccuracy and asked if I could see the radar, and what he had clocked me at. He was taken back and refused to show me, saying that he didn't have to show me anything. He then gave me the ticket and stormed back to his cruiser.

Anyway, my questions are 1.) Is it my legal right to see the radar detector, and the speed that an officer supposedly clocked me at? and 2.) Is it possibly for a police officer with a radar gun to pick out one car, when a pack of at least 3 are traveling towards him? I would appreciate any information you could lend me on this scenario and how the Vermont Laws play into it. Thanks in advance.

Please email me any helpful responses

No, he does not have to show the radar,

If you plead not guilty at trial he must testify how he concluded you were going 45.

And he could say all the cars were going 45 in a pack.

And no, he did not have to stop all of them.
