Can an officer give you a traffic citation from a citizens complaint?

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? PA.

I wanted to know if that is legal...can a citizen file a complaint and a traffic citation be issued based on their word?

Didn't you already have an endlessly long thread on this topic?

Are we still talking about the same incident in your "EX STATE TROUPER" thread? If so you should keep it over there.

But to be frank, YES they can! Police charge people based on witness/victim complaints/statements all the time. Now if you go to court, the actual witness would have to testify (the trouper can testify as to what the witness said, that is actually what HEARSAY is, which seems to be this weeks most abused word on there forums...law and order must have had a show on it).
