Can They Do ThisMinnesota I live I Dakota County MN I was driving down the road and saw a cop we past each other and i stop at my house I got out and started to walk to the house with a gallon of milk. The cop came screaming up with his lights on and got out of the car and started screaming at me to get back in to my truck. So I did he said he might give me a ticket for driving on a revoked license. But he had to think about it and I might recieve one in the mail. So a week latre I recieved a ticket in the mail for DAR But the date of the incident and the location was not at all right. I was not even in town at the date on the Ticket and have never been on the road on the ticket. I have wittess about 20 to say i was out of town with them at the time of the ticket. So can I beat this ticket in court or can they change stuff around like that! What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? |

| You can present your evidence in court that you were not on that road on that date. The police officer may amend the citation to the right date and location. |

| Well You never said whether you had suspended licenses in the first place. So did this officer know you personally somehow that he seem to know you might have had suspended license that he would turn around and hunt you down at your home. I find it strange he would do this out of the clear blue without having some other probably cause, obviously you not sharing the entire story. The fact the ticket was no issued on the spot and was mailed later may help your case. If the Officer was claiming you were at some place at some time doing something you were not suppose to, and you can show you were someone where else doing something else, might work. It is not like tickets that were handed out on the spot and was giving directly to you that just happens to have the wrong day, court ignore this since it kind hard to say you were somewhere else when you have the ticket which was handed to you by the officer. Anyway, ticket can be amended but there are procedures for that and the office can not all of a sudden modify a ticket, Not to say it does not happen but only if you let them. To answer your question, Yes, they can do things like this, obviously he did it, is it right, maybe not depending on what lead up to it.
