Caught in Radar Trap

I was caught speeding over the weekend on Hwy. 29 in a radar trap (many were caught). I was doing 66 in a 55. I have had a clean driving record for over 20 years and would like to keep it that way. I do not want my insurance rates to go up. My problem is that he asked what my speedometer read and I said 64. I do admit that I was speeding, but was only caught because I was last in a long line of speeders (I know that isn't an excuse!). I work 100 miles from the county I was stopped in, so getting to court would mean taking a day off from work and I would rather not. Do I have any options?

If you don't want to appear yourself, you have two options:

You can stipulate to the citation, by mailing in payment before the court date. You'll take the full fine, and swallow three points.

You can hire an attorney from the county the ticket was issued in, and ask him to appear on your behalf.

Bear in mind, if you choose to dispute the citation, you will have to appear in person on the trial date, whether you have an attorney or not.
