caught speeding

To start things off, I am a 17 year old male, who drives a Mustang. The other night at 9:30 I got pulled over (Pennsylvania) and the officer (local officer) initially told me I was doing 60mph in a 25mph zone. I said "Wow, I don't think I was going that fast, maybe 40-45 max." He asked for my license and registration and I couldn't find my registration, so he went back to his car to write up a ticket. When he came back I had my registration for him. My ticket is for 53mph in a 25mph zone. So I was sitting there for a few mins looking over my ticket and he comes back up to my car and asks to see my ticket and registration again. He wrote something else on the ticket (I don't know what), and said that my car wasn't showing up on his computer. He checked all the stickers, vin # and gave my stuff back and said "Do you know where the district justice is?" I said "Yeah, its right next to where I work (a tax prep office)." He said "Oh, if you would have told me that earlier, I would have given you a ticket for 'Failure to use safety control devices.' Schedule a hearing and we will work something out then."
I think its really nice of him to be willing to work with me, but what would make him change his mind and make him offer to help me if I schedule a hearing? Also, I think its interesting that the speed he charged me with is exactly between the 45 I said and the 60 he said (was he just being nice?). And I was almost 1/4 mile away before he came after me (I had gone down 2 different roads and through 3 traffic lights. When he pulled me over, I was doing below the speed limit.) And since it was night, he put the color of my car as black instead of green, no big deal, but could that screw anything up in the computer?
Sorry for being so long, I just am nervous about going to a hearing and all, and I want to make sure I know as much as I can. Thanks.

if you have any.Let your folks in on your problems.Your tickets might affect their insurance. My son once got 3 ticket for moving violiations and never told me untill my insurance got cancelled.

You do not present any evidence for leniency for the citation. You admit to speeding, the wrong info on the ticket is not grounds for dismissal and the officer appears to have done everything by the book. In fact, he sounds like a nice guy. I would suggest you and your parents contact an attorney as soon as possible.

With traffic tickets

pick your battles wisely.Speeding tickets are very hard to beat and rarely won in court.Even when officers evidence is incorrect the judge will side with officers unless you can prove it incorrect.Other frivilous tickets issued can be won and I usually fight those.Just an opinion based on my experiance.

Even though the officer told me to schedule the hearing and that he would be willing to bargain, I should still contact a lawyer?
