What is the name of your state? Washington

I have looked at our local DMV office and in the brochures but have found no information on speed limits in construction zones. So, if there is no speed limit change signs in a construction zone, do we assume to drive the regular speed limit in that area...under caution? What is the rule of thumb?

The rule of thumb is to slow down. It is always possible to miss a sign. People know that they should slow down in a construction zone. If you miss seeing the sign a cop might not miss seeing you. Not worth the trouble.

In Washington state it is 25 mph unless other signage states another speed limit. Remember, construction zones start 50 feet from the first warning to 50 feet past the last. And traffic fines are double in construction zones.
