I was pulled over in Oregon for violating the basic speed rule, for which I got a ticket. Additionally, the officer 'pardoned' me for not being able to find my insurance card during the event. He said he could just use my licence to check for insurance, though upon returning, he gave the impression that he didn't find it. My vehicle was and is still insured. I plan on fighting the VBR ticket because all conditions involved led me to believe I was driving a reasonable speed. So my query is whether or not the un-ticketed failure to present insurance could be brought back into light in court.
For added details, the alleged speed was 80 in a 55. Presumptive fine is $260. Due to distance and transportation, I would be requesting a trial by affidavit.
Thanks in advance for any advice and information!
