court order for speeding with a permit

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NC. I have a Virginia permit and have had it for two years. Clean driving record, turning eighteen and planned on getting my license then. Yet I got a court order in North Carolina for speeding 71 in a 55 zone(quick change from 60 to 55 soon before I got pulled over). The court order is a month and a half after I can get my license. Can I get my license before the court order? If not what is the court going to do? And can I plead anything?

Yes you can get your license before you go to court. You haven't been convicted of anything yet.

Yes, but Virginia will hit you up anyhow when they find out you have a conviction for under 18 you'll have to take (in person) driving school in Virginia to keep it. You can however in NC ask for a PJC and possibly avoid that showing up.

Were you charged for driving without a license? How did you escape that?

I assume you mean "prayer for judgment." I'm only assuming because I don't know any technical name for it.

If you politely ask the DA he might give you a break.

That's sort of like pleading for mercy.

PJC = PFJ = Prayer for Judgement Continued.

You don't want a judgement, you want the judgement continued, but everybody down here in the old North state knows what you are talking about when you use any mish mash of those words/letters.

If he gets a conviction in NC, he'll get a letter in a couple of months for the DMV referring him to driving school. Being under 20 he can't take the online option, he'll have to go kill the better part of a day listening to a lecture and watching videos on highway safety.

If he PJC's in NC, then VA won't ever hear or care.

If he is intending to stay in Virginia, thats fine. If he's actually thinking about moving to NC, he might want to see whether he wants to burn a PJC on this or not (you don't get to play that card more than once). He could just get a NC license instead. At 18, he doesn't need to get a learners permit in NC first.

I'm confused still as why at nearly 18 he was still driving on a permit. You decided to forgo drivers ed? Virginia is one of the easiest places in the country to get a license. You take drivers ed and you're handed one on the spot essentially. Same with motorcycle endorsements.

Sorry FlyingRon. I thought that was what you were suggesting.

And as my wife asked for one, and was turned down, I guess the judge was giving her a break. (She didnt tell me she even got the ticket.)

And I agree with everything you said.

BTW, I'm a misplaced yankee from NY
and I don't pray for minor things and definitely not to a Judge.
