Dash mounted radar

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? VA

I recently got a speeding ticket (68 in a 55). I was clocked by a state coo traveling in the opposite direction. My defense is that I do not think I was going that fast and there was another car in the process of passing me in the other lane as I passed the cop going the other way. This same car continued to pass me and we were side by side at the next redlight where the cop caught up to me and forced me to pull over at a gas station right beside the light... Are those dash mounted radar detectors accurate? The cop could not have been aiming it at me while he drove right? Should I plead not quilty?

There is no "aiming" with a dash mounted radar set, or any radar set. And yes, they are accurate.

You don't know where the officer first observed you or locked in your speed with the radar.

Noth thinking you were going that fast is not a defense.

Go ahead, plead not guilty. Everyone else does.

I have had 3 tickets in the past and I have plead guilty to all of them. This is my first ticket in 5 years. I am asking if I have any chance at all by pleading not guilty and telling the judge about the other car or will they not care regardless?

That isn't going to help. Many VA courts however, will given a clean record, allow you to defer the charge in lieu of completing a driver improvement course. If you are over 20 years old you can usually take these online. Otherwise it's eight hours in a classroom either at a local community college or through a private driving school.

Of course you have a chance. There's always a chance. But what the chance is no one can say.
