Defensive Driving for out of state ticket???What is the name of your state? Texas I live in Texas (Texas DL). I received a speeding ticket in Florida. Can I take defensive driving to "remove" this ticket from my record? The Leon county ticket department says I must take defensive driving from a Florida certified defensive driving school for it to matter to them. She also told me that I need to talk to someone in the Texas (she didn't know exactly who) system to find out whether Texas would event "honor" the defensive driving class if I took it from a Florida certified school. She implied that it might not help me to take defensive driving from a Florida school. I really don't know the best way to address this ticket. Maybe I should just pay it?? But, many web sites say I will regret the insurance backlash if I just do that. I appreciate any help I can get. |

Florida Online Traffic SchoolThe only way online traffic school would help is if Florida did not report the ticket back to Texas. My information is that is the only way Texas would not put the ticket on your record. If the court does not report it to the Florida DMV then it will not go back to Texas and you would be in the clear. Try calling the Texas DMV to see if they can give you any help or talking directly to the judge in Florida. If you cannot get them call the people at the following link to see if they can provide any information: http://www.trafficschoolonline.com/?lcode=4013 I know that online traffic school is accepted in Texas and also in Florida but not sure how it would transfer. |
