disobey steady red light and reckless driving

What is the name of your state? NY
The Manhattan Subway line runs above ground in Queens. It runs directly above 31st street. The Steel structure that supports train is being repainted and the crossroad underneath is barricaded. A stop sign has been added and a no left turn sign as well. When approaching the structure from a side street (34th Ave) you can only make a right hand turn because of the barricade. When I approached 31st street, only able to make a right hand turn, I obeyed the big stop sign directly in front of me. I stopped, turned on my turn signal and turned right in a safe manner. (The traffic light was red) It was 12:08am. A police officer pulled me over, I expained that I assumed the stop sign took place of the traffic light, since I could only make a right hand turn. The officer issued me a violation for disobeying a steady red light and reckless driving. I drove around the block and observed the next 2 vehicles doing exactly what I had done. I have a perfectly clean driving record and do not understand the reckless driving. I must appear in court for this. Not sure if I should seek legal council.

Thank you for your wonderful post. However, since this is a LEGAL advice site, it would be a good idea to at least ask a legal question next time.

There are at least 17 lawsuits (!!) pending in various courts, including the US Supreme Court, asking if Obama is a natural born citizen (as req'd by Art II, Sec 1 of the US Constitution).

Why has he spent over $1.35M in legal fees to block disclosure... rather than spend $12 for a VALID birth cert to settle the matter? The 'certificate' he has presented doesn't qualify to get a drivers license, wouldn't allow a child to qualify for Little League, or for a real citizen to get a US passport!

JETX is the poster child for the behavior I outlined in my “Caution!” thread.

There are plenty of other traffic attorneys around in NYC.

Anyway, if you're referring to the N train in Astoria, the red light is still operational and thus, required to be obeyed. The reckless thing sounds to me like you pissed off the cop, so a lawyer is probably a good idea.
