Disregarding marked policeman directing traffic

I'm in Texas. I was eastbound in the far right lane with two lanes going east. I was approaching an intersection when I noticed a police car with lights on stopped at the cross street to my right. My light was green but I stopped believing the officer needed to get through the intersection. After about fifteen seconds or so the officer had not moved but my light turned red. Now, the officer pulls into the intersection and blocks the lane to the left of me, leaving my lane wide open. The officer then gets out of his car and stands there looking in the opposite direction, giving no DIRECTION at all to the drivers. The light now turns green and my lane is completely open so I proceed, only to be stopped by the officer two blocks down the road and charged with disregarding a marked policeman directing traffic. It turns out that they were trying to set up a road block about four blocks further to the east, and I believe that is what the officer was looking for at the intersection.

My response:

Now, that was an exciting story !

Full of intrigue and mystery. You really had me sitting on the edge of my seat with this one. Thanks !

Got a legal question ?

Sorry I was so wordy without a question. Basically my question is, other than blocking the lane to the left of me there was no direction at all from the officer. Do I have a valid and winning case if I take this in front of a judge?

The judge will ask:
did you see the police vehicle stop next to you and were the police vehicle lights flashing.
Yes, ok, then do you know what the traffic code is with respect to heeding emergency vehicles with flashing lights such as plice, ambulance and fire/rescue vehicles?
You were stopped, ok, that's fine but did you look at the police officer to obtain a go-ahead gesture? I believe the law is clear concerning any emergency vehicle with flashing lights that is entering an intersection has the right of way and all vehicles at the intersection must yield.
Ok, then you did not yield or heed the flashing lights because when the traffic signal turned green, you just drove off.
Don't you think you should have waited at the intersection (even at the green light) until the policeman gave you the signal to proceed?
Yes, thank you.
You are guilty as charged.
