Do I have to pay!!??

What is the name of your state? Florida

While on vacation in California I was at the Los Angeles airport at about 2 AM. I decided to go across the street to the parking garage to get a drink.
I hit the button at the cross walk but there were no cars in sight, so I crossed at the crosswalk, though it was still red. An officer came out of no where and wrote me a ticket.
When I received the ticket in the mail the fine was $321!!! and that wasn't even jaywalking.

My question is: since I live in Florida, will I have to pay this ticket, and if I dont what can happen? Thanks for your help.

Since it is a non-moving violation, very likely nothing will come of it since you don't have the risk of being stopped in California.

There are at least 17 lawsuits (!!) pending in various courts, including the US Supreme Court, asking if Obama is a natural born citizen (as req'd by Art II, Sec 1 of the US Constitution).

Why has he spent over $1.35M in legal fees to block disclosure... rather than spend $12 for a VALID birth cert to settle the matter? The 'certificate' he has presented doesn't qualify to get a drivers license, wouldn't allow a child to qualify for Little League, or for a real citizen to get a US passport!

Welcome to CA!

My wife got a ticket for rolling through a stop sign on a residential street. $110 s** of a b****, I thought. I said, did you at least try crying, "I don't do that," she replied. CHP officer was in neighborhood due to speed complaints; I guess it was easier to wait on a side street and write stop sign tickets. Found out later I could've contested based on the Stop Sign most likely did not meet warrants per the Traffic Manual. Our County uses stop signs for speed control devices, a clear violation of the Traffic Manual.

I got a $110 ticket for disobeying a traffic sign a few years ago. I figured, what the hey, I'll postpone it as long as I can (paying). Notice in the mail said get Traffic School now. I didn't respond because I planned to show up for my arraignment. I went to the courthouse and requested my one allowed postponement (you have to do it in person but only at a clerk window). Lots of people at the arraignment hearing pleaded guilty and took traffic school, I thought, why show up and waste your time when you can do it through mail? Judge says at start of hearing; anyone want to plead guilty and get TS? Lots of takers go forward. Then people get called one by one and most plead guilty and get TS; are they stupid, they could've done that at the start of the hearing and not wasted their time and mine? When I get called I plead not guilty. Judge says sit down there and wait for DA to see you. Talk briefly with DA, no much said just stare at me, he asked me a pertinent question which I answered (not really any argument, "Were you on a bicycle?", I answer, "No". The citation says I was in a motor vehicle). I go to trial. Same thing happens, Judge offer TS to those who will plead guilty now-why did you plead not guilty if you're just going to fold now. I'm here, may as well tell my sad story and get found guilty. Everyone who is found guilty after trial is offered TS. My officer (City Motor-friend correctly said he wouldn't show) didn't show. Dismissed!

I think the whole thing, besides time, cost me a few dollars admin fee for postponing the arraignment. I already had a committment on that day so I didn't have too much choice and it delayed payment of the fine another month. In the end, I didn't pay the fine or court costs.

The trial was entertaining. Watching the trials (I waited an hour for my turn). People are amazing. Police officer, "I observed the light was red and defendant drove through it." Defendant, "The light was green, your honor." Judge, "Guilty, do you want traffic school?" Defendant, "Yes [or no]." Judge, "That'll be 350 for red light violation, 150 for court fees, 50 for traffic school, the cashier is through that door, next." I don't remember the exact numbers but I am verrrrrrrry carefull about not even running yellow since then. My wife, "What are you doing" as I jam on the brakes to stop due to yellow. I don't want one of those 600 dollar tickets.

One guy got found not guilty after trial. The sheriff's deputy screwed up and wasn't experienced at doing trials. He was grungy looking with a bad haircut and grungy civilian clothes. The judge didn't like him but the defendant almost convicted himself because he wouldn't shut-up. I could tell at a certain point by the judge's questions that he had made up his mind, he just needed a few more pieces of info for the file and I'm thinking, "shut-up now, you're not guilty, don't convict yourself."

There were two CHP (California Highway Patrol) officers there, neat and in uniform. They each did a series of trials. Very professional, experienced at this trial thing and convicted every single citation they wrote.

City Police did good too but they messed up by mentioning that they videotaped the red-light runner and didn't bring the tape. The defendant got the trial delayed for a month so the police would have to go to their evidence room and retrieve the tape. I think they had her dead to rights and probably got their conviction but the tape thing cost them time. CHP got plenty of red-light convictions just based on their word (they don't use video).
