Doing 46 in a 35 on a school permit

What is the name of your state? Iowa

Okay, so the cop says I was in the 35 area of like speeding up. I know I was in the 45 range. So I was going 1 mph over. But theres no way to prove that I guess. I have a minor school liscense, by the way.

I know, that if this goes through I get a 30 day suspension then its 6 months till I can get my liscense, but I was supposed to get it December 13.

My mom is maybe hiring a attorney. But I don't know what to do? What do you guys thinks going to happen?

Thanks ya all <3 <3 :-*

~~Alyssa

PS: I would perfer to take that class online for 30 bucks to ERASE IT OFF MY RECORD... but I dont think I'm eligable??

Don't waste money on a lawyer. You have a small chance of having it dismissed, if you can prove you indeed were in 45 mph zone. To do so, first go back to the street and check the signs. If 35 mph sign is nearby, then you have less chance, but still can look up if it was posted legally. Find out the statute you were charged with, then look it up online (Google). Post it here and I can try to help further. Also, call the court and see if traffic school is a possibility.

On your ticket, you have something that says "offense charged" or similar, and it's typically a number with some letters. May be next to "Violation". Sounds like Iowa code 321.285 or similar, here is the link: http://www.legis.state.ia.us/IACODE/1997/321/285.html

Please, find exact number (this determines if you have a chance of winning). You do face suspension of your permit unless the charge is dismissed (see link below), so do try to fight it.

These other links are helpful, too:

Hm.. reading that it sounds that I may be able to slip through the system some how :-]

My court date is the 27th, I will turn 16 and be ATTEMPTING [it does say in the law that you have to be convicted] to get my liscense on the 13th. Anyway, this ticket is very confusing. the closest i could find to what you asked me to look for was:

Local Ord. 212 840 (I think thats what it says. You should see this ticket, worst handwriting EVER)

I hate this. The cop did this just because he knows I am my fathers child and hates my dad >.<

Any more advice?

Thanks soooo much for the advice you've given so far!!!!

<333 Alyssa

EDIT:
Okay, heres a picture of a citation i recieved. Please like... idk. Maybe seeing it you guys can tell me where to look. !!! Thanks!

Also looks as the poster will have to find a different means of transportation.

That's cute!

OP.....I believe the word is "statute" that you are looking for.

I cannot advise you on the issue of the ticket.
