don't tow my car!

My car died last tues. evening Nov.1, and I had it towed (I only had 7 miles )to the texaco station close to my boyfriends house.He asked if we could leave it there for a few days until I could come get it to take it to get it fixed on my first day off.They said yes so today I went to go get it sun. Nov. 5, my first day off, and called a tow truck to take it to the place where I always take it to get it fixed, and my car was gone. The texaco station had my car towed to this impoundment place. I went there at this time and they were closed until mon.Do they have the right to do this? I had it towed there because I wanted and thought I could get it fixed there. They told me the shop would be closed for a while and that's when I asked If I could leave it there for a few days. The impoundment place is probably a lot of money, can people do this? What can I do?

Depends. Did you give a time frame? Do you think 4 days is too long? Did you offer to pay them? What exactly did they say?

Did you get any of this in writing?

You might be able to get them on a bailment theory, where their agreement to keep your car there meant they would ensure it would be not be towed by them.

On wed. morning nov.2 I asked the gas station behind the counter clerk if my car would be alright there for "a couple of days", and she said yes.They towed my car away on friday Nov.3. I didn't get it in writing, and didn't pay them. The gas station is a repair shop also, but the lady said the shop was going to be closed for about two weeks, but I could leave my car there. I haven't spoken to the manager yet, she hasn't been there. I think it is wrong for them to do this they should pay for the impoundment and take responsibility for what their employee told me. Is there anything I can do? Thanks for your responding.

Well, guess what: counter clerk isn't the manager. And you know what the manager is gonna say????

I never gave permission to my clerk to allow cars to be stored here....hence, I was unaware of this "Deal" and thus, I towed it away.
