Yes, you are responsible because you were driving. It's called strict liability. You can argue in court until you're blue in the face but the fact remains that YOU received the tickets and are responsible.

Removing the tint will not get the tickets dismissed.

Yes, this was in New York City. What about the fact that three of the tickets don't even specify which window it is? For all I know, I could have gotten a ticket for the same exact window, three times.
