What happens after I pay the driving responsibility assessment fee?
Will the points on my license remain for 18 months?

The assessment fee does NOT remove the points. In fact, you continue to accrue points, you pay an additional $25 for each point you get.

Nothing other than the passage of time will remove points from your NY license (there's no driving school or other option to do so).
