HELP! RE: Suspended License I am seeking advice regarding my current traffic court dilemma. I have been living in Maryland for 3 years and driving with a Maryland driver's license. Previously, I resided in Pennsylvania. In 1999, my driving privileges were suspended for 90 days for accumulating too many points (e.g. too many moving violations). I believed I had made restitution regarding the suspension when I obtained my MD driver's license, but I was recently stopped and ordered to appear in traffic court in December because my license was suspended in Pennsylvania. Because I never mailed in my PA license, the suspension never started. I acknowledge my mistakes of the past and I have had a clean driving record for three years. I have also paid the fines for the bench warrant having been issued in PA and that matter is cleared up. Now I am awaiting trial in MD for driving under a suspended PA license (which is no longer suspended). What penalties should I expect? My income is too great to obtain a Public Defender, but I certainly cannot afford an attorney after paying out several hundred dollars to PA and I am prepared to pay several hundred more to MD. What are my chances of going to jail? What should I say to the judge? I did not, in good faith, drive on a suspended license. Please help this reformed wreckless driver.
