Driving while license suspended

What is the name of your state? Massachussettes.

My license has been suspended due to child support payments she says she never received, my mistake was giving the kids cash instead of checks so I can't prove I gave her anything. The state wants two thousand dollars before they restore my license.

I was stopped in town about two weeks ago, I was not arrested, I had been traveling alot due to my work and had no idea of the suspension.

I went to a court clerk hearing today and they said they were going to forward this to a judge.

What do think will happen to me? Thanks

Sidebar, you MUST make the payments subject to the rules of the court. Giving things to the kids (cash or otherwise) isn't a proper way to make the payment regardless of whether you can prove it.

Driving on a suspended license is serious. It's a misdemeanor in MA. My suggestion would be to get the child support resolved and get your license reinstated PRIOR to the court date. Then plead the situation in court. A lawyer familiar with the specific jurisdiction you are charged in would not be a bad idea.
