| | | Driving while License suspended in NC What is the name of your state? North Carolina My license was suspended because I missed a court date for expired registration and I truly did not know my license was suspended because I had lost my job and was living out of my car and the DMV was sending items to my old address. I currently have the money to get everything handled but I don't want to pay for a lawyer. I do not want a continuance or delay for trial or anything like that. Can anyone advise me as to how to plea so I can just pay the fine and go get my license back? |

| | Call the clerk of court. They usually have answers to questions like these. I don't see that having a lawyer will make much of a difference because there is no more trial. The clerk will probably tell you to just show up and make sure you have enough money to pay for everything (including bail). After this is all cleared up, take the court order saying you can drive to your DMV and make sure that they actually reinstate your license. A common mistake is that they thing once court is resolved that everything is fine, and end up continuing to drive on their suspended license and will get arrested for that later. You can find some of those people on this board with minimal searching... |

In fact, you are so astonishingly correct in this matter, it will not surprise us one bit if you are offered a generous settlement, because, by golly, that’s just how it should be.

OP, Shay does have a point, and my advice is speculation on not based on any actual knowledge. Well, my advice about following through completely is pretty sound. I again advise you to do some minimal searching of this forum as your question (well, similar at least) has been answered plenty of times. | |
