driving without insurance

What is the name of your state? California, santa clara
Hi,
I was stopped by the police but I didn’t have insurance at this moment. I had just bought the car, made the registration 2 days before at the DMV. I had a valid foreign license and a temporary Californian one after passing the DMV written test and waiting to pass the driving test. I had asked for quotes and to buy insurance few days before but companies were unable to sell me insurance because I didn’t have a 'valid' californian license. Now,I have received a notice to appear for VC-16028A-I. What can be the sanctions and how can they be avoided/reduced in my case?
Thanks

Get insurance, bring the papers to the judge, and beg him for a reduced sentence.

As suggested, obtain the insurance and appear before the court. This could result in a very great reduction in your fine.

You're lucky you weren't cited for being an unlicensed driver, as well.

er ... Dimetrio revived a 14 month old post.
I don't think the OP needs any new advice; his court date is long over.
