Exparte judgment

What is the name of your state?Illinois Received a ticket for right turn on red. (disobeying traffic control device - local ordinance) The ticket was marked no court appearance required, so I paid the fine. I got a notice in the mail stating an exparte judgment and conviction were entered on the case. What did I do wrong?
