Expired license Vs no lisenceWhat is the name of your state? New Jersey I was caught driving with an expired Australian driver's license. The police officer put on the ticket that I was driving without a license. What is the difference? How should I deal with this? My other problem is that my visa ran out in December and although I am planning my return 5 days after the court date (Jan 12) I am worried that they will bring up this issue and try to deport or detain me, is this possible? I can't afford a lawyer. I have been advised that I should talk to the prosecutor and try to settle before they get into the visa issues, but I don't know how to go about this or what to say. Please help |

Just tell it like it is. Ask the prosecutor to allow you to plead to a lesser charge. Ask him what the penalties are for each. Ask, ask ask. |

| Because the license is expired, it is not valid. Hence, "driving without license". |
