i was traveling in the right lane on a snowy four-lane divided highway when a deer came into the right lane. as there were no cars around, i swerved to miss the deer. i never hit the deer, but instead ended up hitting a guardrail due to the icy road. doing my civic duty i called in the accident to the ohio state highway patrol on my cell phone. they asked if the car was driveable - it was - and the trooper asked me to drive into the station to get a report. i thought that was a bit odd but went in to give my report. i left with a failure to control citation for $115. now, i understand the logic behind the citation [sort of]. my question: will it be worth my time to contest the ticket in court, on my own, in the hope of either reducing the fine or getting the citation taken off my driving record? if so, what is the best way to bargain? |
