| | | Failure to Obey Traffic Control Device What is the name of your state? Arizona, but registration, license, and insurance are from Wisconsin
I got a ticket last week in Tucson, AZ for failing to obey a traffic control device. I went straight at an intersection where you could only turn right. The ticket is $168, but I have the option to take a defensive driving class, whcih costs $127 and it would wipe this ticket off my record. You can only do this once every two years, so if I take the class for this ticket, that's it for two years. My question is if I just pay the ticket and not go to the class, will my insurance be notified in Wisconsin? If it wil not affect my rates, I may just pay the ticket, even though it is more expensive than the class because it lets me save the class for a later date where I may get something that would get reported to my insurance. Plus the class is 8 hours long and extremely boring, but if just paying the ticket means my insurance will go up, then I'll take the class. Please let me know. Thanks! |

| | | If you take the class the state drops the charges and no moving violations go on your record. Your insurance won't ever know you got the ticket.

You could get yourself and others killed, you know?
Take the class, get the ticket cleared and drive safely and by the law from now on instead. |

| | | Don't be so self-righous, s/he probably did not even notice the sign, and I'm sure the traffic lawes s/he may break in the future would be purely accidental and probably not life-threatning.
Nobody's perfect, they come to these forums to get over their mistakes, not to be belittled by some "perfect" citizen.
(Sorry, I'm not sure if such a petty offense would cause your insurance rates to hike, but if you call your company they would certainly tell you). |

Not noticing the sign is a good way to kill someone. There are many deaths caused by people "not even notic(ing) the sign".
As for breaking laws in the future being accidental and probably not life-threatening, i would not take the chance that the breaking of a law would not be life threatening. Wanting to "bank" the class for the future says a lot about an individual. They must be worried about getting caught breaking a law to even ask. |

The laws are in place for a reason. |

| | | I'm sorry that I'm not on a high pedestal like many of you, but I made a mistake, it's my first ticket ever, I'm admitting guilt, and I'm trying to find out my best option. I'm not like some people who try to get off on a technicality. I'm just looking into the future. I guess nothing unexpected ever happens to you guys, but then you guys must not live in the real world. You can do all the good driving in the world, but one mistake in the future, and I would have wished that I had that driving school option. I guess this forum is about belittling other people to make yourself feel better, instead of offering constructive advice. I hope that I never become that pitiless. If anyone has any information about American Family Insurance Rates relating to a civil infraction please post, otherwise, go belittle someone else. |

| | | XBOX. it's like this; when you looked to the future as if you expected more tickets it raises some red flags.
Call your insurance company (you don't have tell them you got a ticket yet, shoot, you don't even have to tell them who you are) and ask them. They get calls like this all the time. |

| | | If you don't have any other tickets on your record, your insurance shouldn't go up anyway. You should call them and ask if it will go up. Then, yea, save the class for something major. If you don't get any tickets in the next three years it will clear on it's own, and less money out of your mocket. It usually take three tickets(minor tickets) on your record to make your insurance rates go up. | |
