failure to use care, speed greater than reasonable.

Massachusetts

I am going to court because this is bogus.

Let me preface this by it has been a construction zone for two years.

I was at a red light waiting to turn left. I was the first person in line and when the light turned green I went. There was no one on the road to my left. I did excellerate off the line as my car is fairely quick. I would say that I was up to 30 mph in 300 ft. I topped out at 35 mph. the road has a slight s turn and I knew from the previous few days that they were installing new curbs about a 1/4 mile down the road. I slowed down and came to a complete stop when I saw an officer in the road. A cruiser then pulled up behind me and wanted me to pull over which I could not do because of the construction. I had to disobey the officer directing traffic and go through anyway to move to the side of the road. I work less than a 1/4 mile from where he pulled me over. I believe the officer was two cars behind me at the light.

The officer said I peeled out at the light and was speeding but did not say how fast. His only remark was "I hope you don't drive like this all the time". He then asked if I travel this way alot which I replied yes.

When I read the ticket it said failure to use care when starting and speed greater than reasonable in a work zone. No speed was listed as I believ it was a guess on his part since he was not directly behind me nor did he have a clear line of sight.

I definately did not peel out at the light, I have a saab 92x aero awd which is essentially a subaru wrx wagon with new badges. Believe me I have tried to get it to peel out and it doesn't. I did accelerate out of the light but it was not in an unsafe mannor.

What should I do when I get to court?

Let's see...
OP has a biased witness (himself)
The other side has an unbiased expert witness.

I wonder how this will turn out...

The fact that it has been a construction zone for two years means nothing. It was a properly labeled construction zone. The fact that workers are actually present in the construction zone is just another reason for you to be more cautious.

I am surprised that you were not given a ticket for disobeying the pedestrian officer. You are allowed to wait to pull over for a traffic stop until it is safe to do so. However, you must obey all laws of the road until you are pulled over. That includes obeying traffic control officers.

I should have added that there was no constuction signs at the intersection it wasn't until the officer directing traffic that there was a sign. Also I didn't move right away I waited til it was clear. but the traffic officer continued to stare at me. after putting my hands up like what do you want me to do and getting no response did I go through. Either way the officer that pulled me over had no way of knowing how fast I was going and since I was stopped when he came up behind me meant I wasn't travekling at a speed that was too dangerous to stop.
