I was test riding a customer moped, when an officer pulled me over because the headlight was burnt out. I was not ticketed for the headlight but instead for a false plate. I had no reason to be suspicious of the owner, and had no knowledge that the plate was false. Can this be dismissed due to my having no knowledge to it, nor any suspicion that it was as such?

In NC most traffic offenses are strict liability offenses, which means it doesn't matter if you're the owner or not.

Best bet is to consult with a local attorney (or try to find it online) to find out if your charge is a strict liability offense.
