fully stopped at stop sign (tickedt anyway)What is the name of your state? Delaware Hi, I was on my way to the supermarket one afternoon when I noticed a cop flashing lights behind me. I pulled over and gave him my id. I knew I wasn't speeding so I asked why I was being pulled over. The officer said that I had failed to stop at stop sign in the middle of a divided highway. Then told me not to worry that the ticket was only $45. He went back wrote the ticket, asked me to sign it, and left. I KNOW I stopped at the stop sign, not doing so it would have been impossible for me to have seen the oncoming traffic of a 4 lane divided highway. (It's a death wish if you don't). The officers in town have recently made the local paper about how badly they behave. Harrasing people, and in one case shooting a family's dog. (this is a small town). The police in this town are know to have quotas to meet for tickets in order to bring in revenue. I think I just won the lottery. Is there any way I can fight this? If so how?? Its not the $45 that bothered me, its the corruption and the injustice. (and my insurance) My court date is on August 31. Please help. Last edited by cherry07; 08-09-2005 at 10:19 PM. | You can argue that you DID come to a complete stop. Perhaps ask the officer where he observed you from - if you can cast doubt on his unobstructed view of the limit line and your car, you might prevail. Also, keep in mind that you have to stop AT the limit line - not past it. - Carl

| There is no line. (like at a 4 way intersection) The stop sign is in the middle of the divided highway (with no line) in fact, the sign itself doesn't even face the oncoming traffic, (it's sort of crooked and half turned) |
