Originally posted by Katt966 I got a ticket in Illinois for going thru a RailRoad crossing after the lights on the gates had started flashing red. However, there was also a traffic light at the intersection, and the traffic light had just turned yellow as I entered the intersection, so I thought I could still go through. Now I have to go to traffic court. I have a clean record prior to this (one speeding ticket 6 years ago). How do I plead? What should I say? Please help-I am totally lost. Thank you!! |
My response:
Judges appreciate pleas to crimes in Latin. You're bound to walk out of that courtroom when you plead:
"Your honor, I was ex post facto during that time, and my corpus delicti was non compos mentis. Therefore, in exchange for a quid pro quo to these charges, I enter my plea of nolo contendere".
Don't worry about knowing what this means. Judges understand exactly what this means, and you'll be out of there in no time. Just practice this phrase into a mirror until you know it by heart.
And, the best part is your case will be dismissed, and it won't cost you a dime.
Good luck to you.
