| | | HELP with criminal speeding ticket What is the name of your state? MAINE
In december, I was going around the speed limit and decided to pass the car ahead of me (it was a legal pass zone) for some dumb reason, and when passing the car reached a peak speed of 32 over (criminal speeding in maine)(67 in a 35). I know that i am going to have to pay a huge fine and my insurance will go up, but what will happen with my license? By the time of my court date in May, my 6 months will have been up. Is there any way that i can justify the fact that the reason i was going so fast was that i was passing someone. I really am an innocent teenager who was going the speed limit, I had no intention of ever going that fast, but had to go that fast to get ahead of the car in front of me. What will happen to my license? How long will it most likely be suspended for?? i have heard 1 month to 6 months suspension, but also have been scared from suspensions of a year, and also until I am 18! I am just worrying, any information would be awesome. Thanks- carl |

| | | I hire a lawyer. Or try to make a plea deal with the DA, usually if its your first offense they will reduce it or offer you traffic school.

Your age only makes you more open to a harsher punishment. (as in the judge teaching you a lesson.)
