Help Please

Hi, I live on Long Island NY, and yesterday I got a ticket for "rolling" through a stop sign. The cop was a decent guy, and wrote on the ticket 1110 A, and the discription of Disobey Sign. He told me that it a lower fine than a stop sign ticket and would not put points on my license. Is this accurate?

If so, I'll mail in the fine (which I really don't know what it is), if not, I will try and fight it.

Your advise is greatly appreciated.

What are you talking about??? Was your reply a joke, because I was looking for an intelligent answer.

I did "roll" through it (didn't make the 3 second stop). I don't have any disrepect for the local police, but I do know you can plea bargain if you appear for the ticket. What I'm trying to do is avoid points on my license, and have no problem with paying the fine, whatever it may be.

From what I have found there is a 2 point reduction on your license....

"Lately, many of the deputies have been writing VTL 1110a violations instead - which is NY Vehicle & Traffic Law section 1110a - Failure to Obey a Traffic Control device. Basically it\'s a roadside reduction - only a 2 point non-moving violation which keeps the insurance companies happy. Most speeding tickets in my courtroom are reduced to a VTL 1110a anyway when people come in to plea it down to a lesser charge." This was a quote from an officer on a different forum.

This site talks about the 1110A and may help. It is advice from other police officers on different topics.

Hope this helps.
