HELP!!! Reckless Driving in VA

What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? Virginia

I received a reckless driving ticket in Prince William Cnty in VA on 95 in the safety corrider. I had no idea I was in it, not that it matters. I was going 92 in a 65. I already have 6 points on my license from a prior ticket for going 20 miles over. In addition, I have another ticket from FL for 20 over also that shows on my record.

Do I have to get a lawyer? If I do, how much should I be paying. They are ranging from 750-2500. Thats quite a big difference. Can I represent myself? I am fairly new to to VA, (2 years) and don't know how the court system works. I have realized it's quite a bit different than FL. I honestly don't have the money for a lawyer, but if they can keep the reckless driving off my record, keep me out of jail, and allow me to keep my license, I'll come up with it. Is that even possible.

I'm scared. What should I be expecting? Please give me some advice. I have never been in serious trouble, have good gov't job, and don't want this to get in the way of it.

Scared,
Kathy

Q: What should I be expecting?

A: A large fine; possible loss of OPL; ungodly car insurance rates.

92 MPH in VA puts you in special category. You are looking at jail time. 95 in the 'safety corridor' is even worse. Also suspension of license for six months.

Get a lawyer - but even so - you may be in for trouble.

Please post your outcome here.

Good luck... :-(
