| HOV Highway I inadvertantly went the wrong way on I-66 this morning in Northern Virginia and drove into the HOV trap at the entrance to the highway. (The whole highway is HOV-2 between 6:00 and 9:00). I received a ticket ($50 + $57 processing fee), but the officer failed to write the time of the violation on the citation. Since the citation is for a issue very sensitive to the time, would this invalidate the ticket? In court, since the state has the burden to prove the case against me, wouldn't this mean that they could not prove what time I was in the HOV or is it likely that they have another record of proof. Finally, if I did want to make this argument, is that a not guity plea or a nolo contendere?
thanks,
