Question

How far do you have to be followed while speeding

I'm inquiring about New York State. I got on the highway in Medium traffic condition and once on the highway for half a mile a policeman cme up behind me and put on his lights. I don't believe I was clocked with a radar gun because there's no place for him to have been waiting since there is no shoulder on this highway. I was told I was doing 67 . When being pulled over for speeding because the policeman was following you and didn't clock you on a radar gun, how far does he have to follow you to make it stick or is there no minimum distance? I don't believe I was doing 67 and if there is a minimum distance he must follow me I would have had to accelerate extremely fast to reach 67 and get pulled over in half a mile. Thanks in advance for any help, George

Hi George...

Here in Washington State they have radar in police cars that is capable of clocking you even when the officer is moving. Are you sure the officer didn't have that kind of radar?

Just a thought,

JIM

They have moving radar in New York too. The ticket should say what method was used to determine your speed.
