I Need Help...fast!!!What is the name of your state? California. Alright, over the past summer a bunch of friends of mine were joking around and threw some waterballoons at cars. Now, we are going to court. I'm being charged with a violation of VC23110(a). I was wondering...as an adult, what is the typical punishment for a crime like this and what is the most severe possible punishment. Also, in terms of the case itself: 1) the officers never saw us do it. 2) they are relying on a phone call. If I can hear back by anyone ASAP I would be very obliged. Thanks. |

| Like any crime, an eyewitness can report it to the police ... they CAN base a charge on the report of a witness. They can also base it on other evidence. If there is no evidence and no witnesses, then there should be no worries. However, had anyone been hurt or had a car crashed, you would be hooked up for felonies. Throwing things at cars is a VERY dangerous prank ... I pulled two people from a car once that had been hit by waterballoons - they lost control ... one lived. The punishment may vary depending on criminal history or damage, but usually it includes a small fine of a few hundred dollars and probation. - Carl

| We had a similar incident occur not far from where I live, only the people were not throwing water balloons, but bricks. Then another time, some were dropping packs of firecrackers. Three people died as a result of their prank from the bricks, and I'm not sure if any died or not from the ones with the firecrackers. Not passing any judgement or anything... but I have to wonder what makes someone want to pull something like this to begin with. In the case of the ones throwing the bricks, the police sure didn't need an eyewitness or phone call; they pulled up right behind them as they were tossing them. Good timing! |
