I think Im in BIIIIIIG TROUBLE

What is the name of your state? Texas, Houston

Hello everyone,

I am new here and have read through your forum. I think that its gret how you help everyone here and I REALLY need some help. Well, about a month ago I recieved a citation. The thing is that I was doing A LOT of things wrong. I was driving without a license (I haven't got one yet) no insurance, speeding (supposedly 57 in a 45 zone), and supposedly illegal window tint. Yeah, I know that Im stupid just that Im SO NERVOUS. I dont know what they will do to me. I am 18, and this is my first offence ever. Currently, I am unemployed and am scared that I will be fined A LOT or even be thrown in jail. I was told that the best thing I could do is to do something called a "guilt plee". Well, I was told to call some lawyer for this but there is none that I can afford and the free Legal Aid cant help me with citations. Can someone please help me figure out whats the best thing I can do? Im really nervous because the court date is next week. Please help me THANKS

I should also add that I want to get my Drivers License and I am not sure if I should try to now. Since my court date will be like the week after (25th) then I am not sure what they would do to me. Do you think that they might make it so I am not able to get my license until Im 21 or something? Comn people please help me.

Simply, this is beyond your control at this point.

You can plead guilty and accept the fine against you. If you don't pay it, a warrant can be issued for your arrest.

Or you can plead not guilty..... which would clearly not succeed since you have no defense or valid challenge to the facts.

Or, you can try to find a lawyer that specializes in traffic tickets (they literally TROLL outside the court door, so you might try to go down there a few days early and talk to some of them). They will cost money but might get one of two of the charges dropped.

You might try:

Is it possible for me to plead "no contest"? I mean, it will be the first time that this will happen so I am allowed to, right?

You can enter a plea of 'nolo contendere' (no contest) at any time (not just your first offense). However, in essence that means the same thing as a guilty plea and will not affect any fines or penalties.

nolo contendere
(no-low kahn-ten-durr-ray) n. Latin for "I will not contest" the charges, which is a plea made by a defendant to a criminal charge, allowing the judge to then find him/her guilty, often called a "plea of no contest."

So which one would be best to plead, guilty or no constest? Can I plead no contest to all the offences that I've done?

They are essentially the same thing. Neither has an actual advantage over the other************** one says "I admit to doing it" (guilty), the other says "I am not contesting the charge" (I did it).
