Insight on traffic citation "following too close"

What is the name of your state? GEORGIA
Hello, I was in a minimal fender bender (less than $500 damage) that was completely my fault. The damage was so minimal that the officer repeatedly asked the woman I bumped into (1-2mph) if she really wanted the accident to be written up, stating that he did not have a convincing reason to even write me a citation. The woman said we could just exchange information before the officer showed up. However, due to the woman's boyfriend's incessant and domineering meddling, the woman changed her mind to have the officer write a report. The officer cited me with "following too close."
My question is two-fold: does anyone know what the likelihood is of getting the points/fine lessened due to a clean driving record for last 13 years (unlucky 13 now, eh???) OR dismissed due to the officer not showing up? Or is there any concession given by taking the time to go to court and present "guilty with explanation" to the judge?

Any tips would be appreciated, I know it was my fault and I take responsibility, I just am questioning because the woman originally said we could just exchange information and not involve the police, and then the officer himself was not going to write a report originally either. What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state?

Yes. Madam Tashia, the renowned Internet psychic can tell you... problem is, she is currently on an out-of-body vacation (something about helping Brad and Angelina!!) and won't return for a few days. Watch the forum daily and I will post her response when she gets back!!!

Not really.

And none of that is relevant... considering that the officer DID write the ticket.

A lot of times people don't want to involve the police, claim full responsibility and promise to pay. Then when the estimate comes in a lot higher than they believed it would be, they change their mind. Then it becomes a hassle for the innocent party. Her boyfriend was just looking out for her best interest. I wouldn't call that meddling. Is traffic school available where you are?

Sounds like your case was handled "by the book".....legal, even if not the best way in dealings between people and minor accidents. The gal's "initial" attitude perhaps would have served you well, and possibly would have served her well (a moot point at this stage), but is not the course followed in the end. If you get a receptive judge in court, AND the cop tells of circumstances as you relate them, he may decide the experience and expense of the wreck is enough penalty to sharpen your driving skills and habit of following at a really safe distance....penalty reduced or set aside.
