Jury Duty w/ Warrent for Arrest? -Help ASAP please - May 2nd is Duty

What is the name of your state? Cleveland, Ohio

I have been summoned for Jury Duty in Cleveland Ohio.

The reason I am here... is because I believe there is a Warrent out for my arrest because I wasn't able to appear in court to payoff a traffic ticket (not wearing my seatbelt) last august.

Will I be arrested when I appear for the Jury Duty???

Either way I am going to go to Jury Duty... I am just wondering if I should prepare my family and friends about the news of being arrested. Plus I rather have someone drive me there... so my car doesn't get impounded. I am willing to pay off the warrant and the ticket... I was just not able to get to it at the time I received it.

Thanks for the advice.

Please give me your advice soon...

I am going to Duty... I just rather know if I have to deal with this Warrent or not... that way I could have my gf go down there and drive my car back without having to pay more and more fees.

Although tons of my friends are saying I have nothing to worry about... I am still neaverous.

Thanks!

Well, you could use the fact that you'll be hanging around the court house waiting for the jury call to spend that time with the clerk clearing the offense and the warrant. Save you a trip :-)

Surrender before you appear for jury duty.

Can you just pay off a warrent.... I thought you have to be arrested when a warrent is out.

So they will look into that when I go in? I thought they don't look into that kinda stuff???

No..if you go to clear it up yourself they won't arrest you. Years ago, my dh had failure to appear traffic warrants and we wanted to get married so he went to the courthouse and cleared everything up beforehand.

Side note: Once you pay it...keep the receipt in your car or wallet. They gave him 48 hours to pay the fines. He paid them and the next evening we got a call from the clerk saying he didn't pay and would be arrested. I had the paid receipt in front of me and gave him the number and info off of it. He put me on hold, came back and said they had misfiled it and he apologized.

Another time he had went to court on a ticket, paid it, but got stopped one morning and the computer said he had an outstanding warrant/fine. Luckily, he had the receipt for that in his wallet and was able to prove he had taken care of it.

They do make mistakes and things get entered wrong.

Just go and find out the fines and pay them.

I don't know about your state but here they don't check your info when you appear for jury duty. But since you are willing to pay the fines, why not just take care of it now so you can relax from now on? And I doubt that you "weren't able" to go to court. You chose not to. Also, for future note, if you had went to court on the original ticket and couldn't pay the fines..they give you time...they don't throw you in jail and are actually pretty reasonable. It's just stupid not to go.
