| Kenosha, WI speeding ticket What is the name of your state? WI
Hi there, about a month ago I was clocked at doing 87 in a 65 just crossing the border of Illinois/Wisconsin on my way back to Milwaukee from Chicago. I honestly do not believe I was going 87mph, as when I saw the cop as I came around the bend, I saw my speedometer at 82mph. Also, my winter tires are slightly smaller and yield about 1.2mph too fast.
Anyhow, I tried to be as nice as humanly possible to this officer. Unfortunately I made the mistake of saying "I think I was going 78mph" to the officer instead of "I don't know". So 6 points and $255 later, I have a court date tomorrow.
I'm wondering what I should do. Should I just pay the ticket? Do I have any right in even pleading not guilty when I said I thought I was going 78? I was speeding, and I know I should pay some fine, but I'd really just like to lose some points off that, and maybe get it knocked down somehow with traffic school or something.
What do I plead? Or do I just pay and accept the consequences based on my admittance of guilt?
Thanks so much,
