Michigan traffic ticketWhat is the name of your state? Michigan The officer did not appear in court; I did; now he personally served me with another copy of the ticket two weeks later. Can he do that? |

| Why would he do that if he couldn't? There could be a multitude of reasons the officer didn't appear so reissuing the citation is correct and proper. Whether his excuse is valid will be up to the judge. |

| You must have made him mad. This is a lot of effort on his part just for a traffic ticket. |

| Did the judge dismiss the earlier ticket? Did s/he dismiss it without prejudice? Without prejudice means the state may refile the case. Take a copy of the original ticket & the court's dismissal & ask the court to dismiss on double jeopardy grounds. It might work. Otherwise, you'll just have the trial on the second ticket. If the cop doesn't show the next time, ask the court ot dismiss with prejudice so he can't issue the ticket a 3rd time.
