Missouri no proof

I just recently got pulled over a second time for no proof of insurance in Missouri. The first time was June of last year. I had gotten insured after the first and had been insured until just recently there had been a billing error and it had lapsed. When I got home after getting the ticket I went and fixed everything and it reinstated. So my question is what should I do or expect? Can I take my proof to them? It says the same date as the policy start as the ticket. Will it be ran to find exact time because I had a prior ticket for this or will it be accepted? Should I try to give this to them or should I be upfront and say that it had expired and I had renewed it? And if Im upfront what sort of penalties am I looking at? Last time it was $75 or so. Am I looking at suspension or huge amounts of money? Im a little worried after reading things online about people payin 1000s, getting suspensions, and jail time. my driving record is very good, aside the no insurance last time and this time the only thing on there is a failing to yield which was I believe a year ago. Thanks for any advice.

Time is not relevent. If you were insured, even if you bought the policy 5 minutes before you were pulled over, you would not have received the ticket.

All he needs to do to GET the ticket is to not have proof of insurance with him. Missouri law requires that if the driver is unable to show proof on demand.

He won't however be found guilty unless he really didn't have insurance at the time of the stop.

303.024 and 303.025 of the RSMo pretty much cover both instances.
