Missouri suspension while in Michigan My Missouri license was suspended in 97 for Failure to Provide Proof of Insurance. I paid the fines in 98 and, according to the Dept of Revenue, my driving privileges were reinstated as of Jan 7, 99. The problem is this: In March 1999 I moved to Michigan until Sept 2003 when I moved to Kansas. On Jan 6, 2004 I was pulled over in Missouri for speeding (my fault) and arrested for Driving with a Suspended License. Apparently, in Sept 1999, Missouri re-suspended my license for 'Failure to Maintain Proof of Insurance'. I'm perplexed because I was not LIVING in Missouri at that time. I had moved to Michigan, and had Michigan insurance in Sept 1999. When I called the Dept of Revenue in MO last week after the arrest, I was told that I no longer had to provide proof of insurance to MO (DUH). I have a court date in Feb, can I fight the second suspension & fine since I did not live in Missouri at the time? and had surrendered my MO license to Mich in May 1999? |
