What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? WA

Can I Motion for Continuance AT Contested Hearing, after evidence is attained from a contesting witness via subpoena at the contested hearing? Since there is new evidence now after the testimony of the witness, cannot I ask for a recess or a continuation to further construct a defense and continue the contested hearing to another date?

You can ask for anything you want to. Whether you get it or not is up to the judge.

What are you charged with?

From the way you describe this situation I'd say you would be best served by retaining legal counsel.

Speeding ticket.

I do realize contested hearings have their own rules, and its a preponderance of the evidence as it is considered a civil issues not criminal. Just making sure it isn't uncommon to get a continuance at a contested hearing after testimony of witnesses.
