My 16 year old daughter was cited for a minor traffic accident. (she was traveling less than 5 mph.) The officer told me to request a stopping violation vs. a moving violation. This is to keep the points off her record. We are set for a pre-trial but what should I request and how should I phrase it?

5 mph? Yea, right, the officer was "giving you a favor"

You should talk to DA and ask for dismissal + court costs, but indeed a possible other deal you can take is a non-moving violation, like parking. All the same, pay the court a fine and forget the bad taste it creates in your mouth.
